The Silo at Merribee is romantic accommodation for couples including a double bed with self-contained lounge and bathroom facilities.  Merribee is set on 7 acres of ornate gardens with distinct seasons, always with something happening or flowering.

The Space
Welcome to The Silo.  A unique and private four storey, one bedroom apartment in a renovated 100 year old grain silo.  What was once a derelict concrete farm structure in 2009 has been transformed into romantic accommodation.

After entering a foyer area on the ground floor, you take the first flight of stairs.  This brings you to the bathroom level, with a freestanding claw-footed bath, sitting resplendently opposite the view. A vanity and toilet are located on either side of the bath and a cane armchair offers a restful view.

The second flight of stairs brings you to the master bedroom where you’ll find a double bed.  This cosy room has view on three sides down across the gardens and surrounding dairy farm paddocks.The third and final flight of stairs takes you to the lounge area and lookout.  Relax as you gaze at the ever-changing and uninterrupted 360o district views. You will enjoy coffee and tea with the provided kettle and Nespresso machine, plus a hearty breakfast. Plates, cups, glasses, and fridge and toaster are in this area.  

Guest Access
The Silo is self-contained and for the exclusive use of guests staying.  You will have access to the 7 acres of gardens at Merribee, including use of the tennis court.  

Please note the owners live on the property and other guests may be staying concurrently in Villa Parterre and Villa Botanica (listed separately). 

The Gardens
The Merribee gardens have distinct seasons, always with something happening or flowering. We have approximately 600 rose bushes which flower continuously from late October to late June before being pruned in July. This includes a Heritage Rose Garden with 100 roses from ancient times through to the modern David Austin Roses. We have kilometres of hedging, numerous botanical “rooms”, pleached Chinese Elms and Oaks on a main avenue, and a Lavender Paddock which flowers late November through January.

Neighbourhood
Merribee is surrounded by 3 100-acre dairy farms at Numbaa, located in the middle of the Shoalhaven district, within a 15-30 minute drive to Culburra Beach, Callala Beach, Huskisson, Cambewarra, Kangaroo Valley, Berry, Gerroa and Gerringong.

Merribee is 2.5 hours from Sydney and Canberra and 1 hour from Bowral.
