Garden & Grounds

Much of Merribee's gardens and grounds were designed and planted by James Thompson, a local professional landscape designer with international organic horticultural qualifications. The garden has been included in Australia's Open Garden Scheme. Plants have been selected to flower during the whole year, with an emphasis on colourful blooms, foliage and scents. The garden is known for it's diversity of varieties and includes a large number of heirloom and heritage plantings. Birds and insects (including Merribee bees) are plentiful in the garden. Much of the garden was planted since 2000, and is being constantly upgraded.

The property offers plenty of options when planning small or large-scale events. Guests may use the different garden areas (outdoor rooms) for small informal dinners and cocktail parties, right through to formal functions. We have off-site parking for over 60 vehicles.
